The 'Raj Parr, Farmer' 6-pack
Famed author and probably greatest-ever sommelier Rajat Parr has traded in that glamorous life for a new hat: humble rural farmer.
Although he still has a hand in his other top-notch wineries (Sandi, Domaine de la Cote, and Evening Land), his main passion these days is living out on Phelan Farm in Cambria, California and applying his razor-sharp mind to the topic of natural farming. He learned how to grow grapes there all alone during the pandemic, so the results are extremely personal wines, hand-wrought by someone who spent time learning from the greatest winemakers in France (and beyond). Raj’s palate and taste memory are gifts more rare than perfect pitch, and his level of access to brilliant winemaking minds is unparalleled on earth. These outstanding, singular wines are the expression of that unique education.
You’ll receive two bottles each of three wines, his flagship Autrement red bottling and two wines from his Brij line—a zippy Albariño and a spicy red dubbed Oso—all refreshing beauts perfect for spring weather.
The ‘Raj Parr, Farmer’ 6-pack $235, two bottles each:
‘Autrement’, Phelan Farm, California, 2022
A Savoie-inspired blend of Gamay, Pinot Noir, and Mondeuse. Lovers of Burgundy, Cru Beaujolais, and Jura reds absolutely must get this on their radar.
Albariño, Brij, California, 2023
Bright, fresh, and a touch salty, this is the quenching white your patio needs.
‘Oso Rouge’, Brij, California, 2023
65% Mourvedre and 35% Grenache, it’s both meaty and chillable. This is exactly the kind of charming-but-serious red wine we can’t get enough of these days.
