The 'Loire Superstars' 6-pack

$221.00
sold out

This 6-pack zeroes in on a new hotbed of top talent in France. Sure, Bordeaux and Burgundy still deserve their due, but the central Loire Valley is where many of France’s most electric winemaking minds have ended up. And—for now—you can still drink their wines at reasonable prices. Our ‘Loire Superstars’ 6-pack ($221) will introduce you to three top-echelon trendsetters in the most exciting region in France. These are names you should know whose wines are already coveted in the market. In fact, unless lucky you finds a straggler bottle on the shelf of a retailer smart enough to really stock up, the bottles in the 6-pack are otherwise sold out in Georgia, so this may be your only shot at getting them into your fridge.

The ‘Loire Superstars’ 6-Pack, $221

Saumur Rosé, Domaine Guiberteau, Loire Valley, France, 2022 (2 bottles)

Chenin Blanc, Benoit Courault, ‘Gilbourg’, Loire Valley, France, 2021 (2 bottles)

Anjou Blanc, Thibaud Boudignon, Loire Valley, France, 2021 (2 bottles)

Because of the July 4th holiday week, we will offer the ‘Loire Superstars’ 6-pack and Boudignon rosé bottles until Wednesday July 13th (or until they sell out). Wines should be available for pickup at partner stores by Friday, July 15th.

This is Romain Guiberteau, the longest-standing legend in the mix. I first learned about Guiberteau while hanging out with NYC sommeliers because they would order it no matter what else was on the wine list. Guiberteau’s rosé is a very new addition to his lineup, however, and further proof of his insane skill. It’s also the most refreshing thing I’ve tasted in recent memory.

Next is Benoit Courault. Benoit is an endearing eccentric who has mastered the art of boutique natural wine. He lived in an Airstream in his vineyard for a decade while he built his winery by hand. Today, his whole operation is himself, two friends, and a pair of horses. This white is layered and deep but still zippy, and it can quickly convert lovers of white Burgundy into lifetime adorers of Chenin Blanc.

And then we have Thibaud Boudignon, currently one of France’s most hyped winemakers. Thibaud is also a Chenin Blanc specialist. This 2021 matches crackling acidity with succulence and pure, fierce fruit. As a special bonus, we’re also offering single bottles of Boudignon’s spectacular rosé that you can order à la carte. Mainly Cabernet Franc, Boudignon’s rosé has been my favorite pink wine every year for the last three vintages. It’s elegantly herbal, fresh-fruited, and a touch rocky. You can find those bottles available in the store.
