The ‘Classic Autumn’ 6-pack $265
We’ve been eager to see that special fall tinge so we could show you the pitch-perfect wines of Louis Cheze.
Nothing matches the warm-flavored, hearty cuisine of autumn better than France’s Northern Rhone, and Louis’ wines are ultra-classic iterations that have never been available in Georgia until just this week.
Louis is based in the famed Saint-Joseph zone, but he also makes wine in nearby Cornas, one of our favorite spots in the valley. And you’ll likely want to make his varietally-labeled Syrah and Marsanne wines your new house red and white.
Orders placed today for the ‘Classic Autumn’ 6-packs will be available for pickup starting Friday, November 22nd.
The ‘Classic Autumn’ 6-pack, 2 bottles of each:
Marsanne, Louis Cheze, Northern Rhone, France, 2022
Marsanne is the great white grape of the Northern Rhone. More and more producers are embracing it on its own rather than blending, and we’re seeing it shine on its unique merits. It has terrific silky texture, fall-friendly baked apple and quince flavors, and a gentle floral edge. These vines are in Saint-Joseph proper. Great for fans of leaner Chardonnay or textured Chenin.
Syrah, Louis Cheze, ‘Syrahvissante’, Northern Rhone, France, 2023
Vibrant, peppery, and savory—Louis’ delicious textbook example of the Northern Rhone’s hallmark red grape comes from young vines in Saint-Joseph and old vines in the extended Collines Rhodaniennes hillsides. Wines in this category from serious producers like Cheze are some of the best values in France today.
Cornas, Louis Cheze, Northern Rhone, France, 2021
100% Syrah from the treasured Cornas appellation. Meaty, peppery, smoky and deep-but-fresh, this is the absolute ideal bottle for an autumn lamb stew, but can match a charred ribeye, too.
